I'm not crazy about roll engraving, but it looks almost new, and I got it at a good price. The serial number is NT08xx.

I too just bought a new in box Winchester 1892,cresent shape butt stock,24 in barrel,Grade One [same as yours ],one of 5000 made in 1997.Great looking rifle.Guns Galore in Killeen,Tx. still has one or two. Model 1886 rifles were manufactured in the following caliber's :45-70 , 45-90 , 40-82 , 40-65 , 38-56 , 50-110 ,
40-70 , 38-70 , 50-100 , 33 .
These gun can be found in Carbine , rifles and musket configurations.
These guns can be found with wood grade 2 through 4 in carved , straight ,semi pistol grip , full pistol grips stocks .
Barrel length can be found from 20 to 36 inches long and in heavy or extra heavy sizes .
These guns can be found in several grades of engraving from a few simple scrolls to heavily engraved guns with extensive game scene's.
